Our journey began in 2016 at Smith Rock State Park in Oregon. Our group was camped out there for a weekend of climbing on some fantastic routes but could not help but notice the overwhelming presents of white chalk outlining the climbing routes against a beautiful tan background rock. A few weeks later, we traveled to Arches National Park in Utah and found that only the use of color-matching chalk was allowed in the park.

Once back home, the research began developing an environmentally friendly, safe, effective color-matching chalk that would match the natural rock without compromising chalk performance.

Upon developing the three primary rock colors, tan, grey, and red, using only all-natural ingredients, a patent was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In January of 2022, utility patent # 11,225,579 B2 was issued for the method of manufacturing colored chalk for climbing. In addition to all-natural colored chalk, we offer new forms of chalk-like climbing spheres and custom-sized crumbled chalk.
